Claude Cowork · Training and adoption

Your team stops prompting and starts delegating.

Claude Cowork training for non-technical UK teams. Cowork is the point at which AI stops answering questions and starts finishing work, and it needs a different skill from your people: briefing well, not prompting cleverly. That is what we train.

What is Claude Cowork?

Claude Cowork is a way of working inside the Claude app where you hand over a whole piece of work rather than asking a single question. You describe the outcome, give Claude access to the files and systems it needs, and it carries out the steps: reading the documents, doing the analysis, and producing the finished spreadsheet, report or deck.

That is a bigger change than it sounds. For three years the working assumption inside most businesses has been that AI produces text and a person turns that text into work. Cowork removes the second step. The output is the deliverable, not a draft of the instructions for making the deliverable.

It also runs long. A Cowork task can keep working for several minutes across dozens of steps while your person does something else, and can be set to run on a schedule so the Monday report exists before anyone asks for it. This sits alongside everything else Claude does; for the reasoning behind our platform choice, see why we specialise in Claude.

The real blocker

Why does Cowork stall in most businesses?

Cowork stalls for the same reason every other AI rollout stalls, only faster. When a tool answers questions, people feel assisted. When a tool completes whole jobs, some people quietly conclude that the job being completed is theirs. Adoption then stops without anyone saying so, and the licences sit unused while the board asks where the return went.

The research is consistent on this: the barrier to return from AI is behaviour, not capability. The technology already works. What has not changed is how people feel about handing over work they were hired to do.

We address that head on, in the room, before anyone touches the tool. The pitch is not that Cowork does their job. It is that Cowork does the part of their job nobody was ever proud of, and the person who becomes good at directing it becomes considerably harder to replace than the person who refused to learn. Teams that get through that conversation adopt. Teams that skip it do not.

What it actually does

What can a non-technical team do with Claude Cowork?

Finance

Hand over a folder of supplier statements and get a reconciled summary with the exceptions flagged. Turn a month of transactions into the board pack commentary, in the format your board already reads.

Operations

Take a process that lives in three spreadsheets and one person's head, and have it documented, checked and rebuilt as a repeatable task that runs weekly without being asked.

Sales

Research an account properly before the call. Produce the proposal from your own templates and last year's numbers, rather than from a blank page at nine at night.

Marketing

Turn a webinar recording into the follow-up email, the three posts and the case study, all in your own voice, because Cowork has been shown what your voice is.

HR and people

Draft the policy against the current legislation, screen against a scoring framework you define, and prepare induction material per role rather than one generic pack.

The MD

Ask a question of the business and get an answer built from the actual files, not a recollection. This is where most MDs first understand what has changed.

The comparison you are actually making

How does Claude Cowork compare with Microsoft Copilot?

Copilot is strongest as an assistant sitting inside a document you are already working in. Cowork is strongest when you want to hand over the whole job across several files and several steps. They are not the same tool doing the same thing, and for many UK businesses the honest answer is that both have a place.

Where firms go wrong is assuming the Microsoft licence they already pay for makes the question closed. It does not. The work that Copilot handles well and the work Cowork handles well are different shapes, and a business that never asks which is which ends up paying for capability it does not use while the harder tasks stay manual.

We will tell you plainly when Copilot is the better answer for a given workflow. If your organisation is committed to Microsoft, read how Claude works inside Microsoft 365, and the honest comparison in Claude vs Copilot vs ChatGPT.

The training

What does Claude Cowork training cover?

1. Setup and boundaries

The right plan, the right folder access, and the connected systems Cowork is permitted to reach. Decided and recorded before anyone logs in, so the first day is safe rather than exciting.

2. Delegation practice

Each person takes a real task off their own desk and hands it over properly. Briefing, checking the work, and knowing when to take it back. Nobody leaves with a hypothetical.

3. Embed and measure

Which tasks now run without a person, hours returned per head, and what those hours were redeployed into. Reported to you in the language of return, not usage statistics.

This runs inside our standard AI Adoption Programme rather than as a one-off session, because a one-off session is precisely what does not work. Adoption is a behaviour, and behaviours need a second and third contact to hold.

Governance

Is Claude Cowork safe to use with company data?

It can be, and that is a governance decision rather than a technical one. Cowork only reaches the folders and connected systems you deliberately give it. The risk in practice is not the tool reaching too far; it is nobody having written down how far it was meant to reach, so a well-meaning employee quietly widens it.

A delegated task also needs a human gate. Work that leaves the business, commits money, or carries professional liability gets a named person who signs it off. That is not caution for its own sake. The legislation shows the direction of travel clearly, and firms that can evidence who approved what will find the next two years considerably easier than firms that cannot.

Our third service line handles this properly: the use policy, the boundaries, the approval points and the record. It is the same work whether you have five people or fifty, and it is far cheaper to do before adoption than after an incident.

Common questions

What UK buyers ask us about Cowork.

How is Cowork different from using Claude in a normal chat?

A chat returns text you then have to act on. Cowork returns finished work. It can open your files, run the analysis, build the document and hand it back, and it can keep going for several minutes on a task while you do something else. The unit of delegation changes from a question to a job.

Do you need to be technical to use Claude Cowork?

No. Cowork is built for people who do not write code. The skill it demands is delegation, which is the skill your Finance, Operations, Sales, Marketing and HR people already use with colleagues every day. If someone can brief a junior clearly, they can brief Cowork. That is what our training builds, and it is why we train the briefing before we train the tool.

How long before we see a return?

Individuals return hours in the first fortnight. The business-level return arrives when those hours are deliberately redeployed rather than quietly absorbed, which is why measurement is built into the programme rather than bolted on at the end. Businesses that adopt Claude correctly typically see 6-10 hours returned per head, per week.

What if our people are worried about their jobs?

Assume they are, whether or not they have said so. Cowork completes whole tasks, which makes the question louder than it is with an ordinary assistant. We deal with it directly in the first session, because unspoken job fear is the single most reliable predictor of a rollout that goes quiet. The teams that come through that conversation adopt fastest.

Can Cowork work with our existing systems?

In most cases yes, through connectors to the tools your team already uses, and through the files and folders you give it access to. Which connections are worth making is part of the setup conversation, because every connection is also a governance decision.

Why train on Cowork now rather than wait?

Because the advantage is available now and will not be in eighteen months. Delegating work to AI is a capability your competitors are building this year. When it becomes standard, having it stops being an advantage and lacking it becomes a disadvantage. The window where this is a differentiator is open, and it is not open indefinitely.
